Conference Overview

Convention goals include:

Reviewing 'Best Practices' and therapeutic guidelines for use with chronically ill patients;
Discussing therapeutic advances and cutting-edge treatments for patients challenged with cardiovascular, diabetes and renal disease;
Discussing HIPAA compliance challenges, changes in HIPAA and Medicaid billing procedures that improve rate and response time of pay out to providers;
Discussing and reviewing the critical health policy issues that impact the health status of African Americans and our capacity to eliminate health disparities;
Provide a forum for developing health policy in North Carolina as recommended by the membership in consultation with the NC Legislative Black Caucus;
Examine strategies and approaches for ensuring the Economic Survival of Black Physicians.

By conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:

Discuss clinical guidelines for treating complex disease conditions;
Explain innovative techniques for use with an array of conditions including cardiovascular disease, arthritis, diabetes, asthma, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer's and obesity;
Discuss the coding procedures for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
Discuss strategies that eliminate HIPAA audit exceptions and strengthen medical practices; and
Suggest approaches for the ensuring the economic survival of African American physicians.

Product exhibits are a means of health education for all attendees and a featured highlight of the convention. Exhibits will be on display Thursday through Sunday, May, 23rd. The Sponsors/Exhibitors Dinner is planned for Thursday, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

The Friday - Saturday NCLBCF /ONSMS event showcases efforts being undertaken by all to eliminate health disparities. Physicians have opportunity to listen and to learn about cutting-edge approaches and inhibitors to successful heightening of community health consciousness and involvement in eliminating unhealthy lifestyle.

The President's Banquet will celebrate strides achieved on behalf on health and wellness for all. With our partners, we will embrace the power of moving as one in the interest of all.

The Youth Empowerment Series - 'All This I Am' includes a motivational workshop, a visit to sites of interest in Raleigh, special programming and co-hosting other children from across NC. A Sunday morning, Salute to Health and Wellness' will cap this stimulating weekend and acknowledge parental care and commitment to all.

Credits for Physicians: The Office of Continuing Medical Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12 hours in category 1 credit towards the NMA Physician's Achievement Award and the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

CME Certification Registration: To receive credits, each physician must sign in daily.
